Shock engulfed residents of a plot in Kagio town, Kirinyaga County after the lifeless body of a 40-year-old woman was discovered in a bathroom Sunday night.
The woman’s body was found by another tenant who had entered the bathroom.
According to Citizen Digital, witnesses said the woman had spent the entire Sunday sweeping the plot.
A family member named Joy Wangari disclosed that the woman, a mother of two, had only been in the rented house for two weeks.
She added that the deceased had relocated from Nairobi with her husband.
“I am the one who advised them to rent a house at Kagio after the high cost of living in Nairobi. She is a mother of two and has stayed here for just a week and her husband is coming right now from Nairobi,” Wangari said as reported by Citizen Digital.
Wangari expressed her deep shock at the tragic turn of events.
Police in Mwea-west sub-county are probing the cause of the woman’s death.
"We will know the cause of her death after postmortem."
The deceased body was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home awaiting the postmortem examination.
