Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has arrived at Kinunga Stadium, Nyeri County, for the burial ceremony of freedom Fighter Field Marshall Muthoni wa Kirima.
Gachagua was welcomed by Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.
Other leaders are also expected to attend the funeral.
Muthoni, who served as the late freedom fighter Dedan Kimathi's personal assistant in the struggle for liberation, passed on September 5 aged 92.
She was pronounced dead at a hospital in Pangani where she was rushed moments after developing health complications.
While announcing about her demise, Gachagua remembered her as a hero who led the Agikuyu community in their fight for freedom.
"I have woken up to sad news of the passing on of Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima, the gallant freedom fighter who fought side by side with Field Marshall Dedan Kimathi Wachiuri in the Mt. Kenya and Aberdare forests to drive colonialists from our land," Gachagua said.
