Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei on Wednesday shocked fellow senators as he appeared in Parliament with sunglasses on.

This is the first time the legislator stepped out in sunglasses to the surprise of his colleagues.

As he stood up to address Parliament, Deputy Senate Speaker Kathuri Murungi asked why he wore glasses.

"Today what is the problem with your eyesight," he asked.

Cherargei replied:

"No I have been seeing wonderful things that the President has done until it shocked my eyes but I am recovering."

His sentiments send the house bursting out with laughter.

The Senator, however, continued with his presentation.

He did not reveal further details on whether he had a medical condition or not.

The House rules provide that MPs are required not to enter the chamber, lounge, or dining room without being properly dressed.

A male member is expected to be dressed in a coat, collar, tie, long trousers, socks and shoes, or service uniform, religious attire, or such other decent dressing as may be approved by the Speaker from time to time.

The same rules apply to women legislators who may also wear kitenge or other African attires.
