Kindiki: We'll not allow politicians to intimidate security officers

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has warned politicians against attacking security officers.

Kindiki said the politicians should give space for the officers to carry out their mandate.

"No political leader will be allowed to publicly attack, intimidate, or incite animosity against security officers," he said.

Kindiki said the government is against any profiling of religion and community as it confronts the challenge of terrorism and violent extremism.

He spoke in Lamu after officially opening Lamu East subcounty headquarters and addressed a security baraza at Faza, Pate Island.

The Interior boss said politicians and community leaders inciting violence and disharmony in Lamu County using propaganda will be dealt with firmly and in accordance with the law.

He urged members of diverse communities living in Lamu to coexist in peace and harmony and resist attempts to incite animosity in the guise of addressing historical grievances.

The CS said no community or religion will be profiled in the fight against crime and vowed that all criminals will be apprehended and prosecuted individually.

On Lamu safety, Kindiki said the government is equipping security officers with modern equipment, constructing security roads, and establishing a cutline with clear demarcation separating Boni Forest and human habitation.
