Three youths died on the spot after a motorcycle they were travelling on was involved in an accident in Langalanga trading centre near Gilgil town, Nakuru county.

The motorcycle operator, who was carrying the three, was seriously injured and admitted in critical condition at the Gilgil subcounty hospital in the Sunday night incident.

Gilgil deputy county commissioner Willy Cheboi said it was not clear what happened during the self-involving accident that occurred along the Gilgil-Miharati road.

“Members of the public heard a loud bang only to find that the motorcycle that was carrying four men had been involved in an accident that left three of them dead,” Cheboi said.

The bodies were collected and taken to the mortuary.

Elsewhere in Kikopey still in Gilgil town, an unknown number of thugs raided a hotel and killed two people in weekend attacks.

The thugs sexually abused one of the female workers and stole personal effects. They used crude weapons to kill the two men before fleeing.

Two other people including a woman were seriously injured and admitted at the Gilgil Sub-County Hospital in critical condition.

Confirming the incident, Cheboi said that no arrest had been made though police were following some leads.

The administrator said they suspected a gang to be behind the attacks on the workers in the hotel that was closed a couple of months back due to financial crisis.

“The two victims who are in hospital are very scared and traumatised and we suspect that they could have identified the killers,” he said.

Cheboi added that they had called a crisis security meeting in Kikopey to address the rising cases of insecurity in the centre located along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway.

Gilgil MP Martha Wangari while consoling the injured condemned the attacks calling on the police to make sure that those responsible were arrested.

“We have lost two people after a heinous attack in one of the hotels and we hope that those behind this incident will face the full wrath of the law,” she said.
