Former Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya was on Wednesday questioned by EACC over financial management during his tenure
EACC Director of Communication Eric Ngumbi confirmed to the Star that the former governor was brought to the EACC Integrity Centre together with his wife around noon.
They are currently before detectives at EACC Integrity Centre Police Station, Nairobi.
The Star has established that detectives on Tuesday went to his Butere home in Mumias and also his Karen residence Wednesday morning.
Insiders also told the Star that the commission was investigating how the county spent about Sh1.3 billion between 2013-2022 when he was in office.
"Investigations are currently in preliminary stages. We have searched his properties. Interrogation is ongoing and we cannot tell what time it will end," the insider said.
