The Public Service Commission (PSC) has extended the application period for the recruitment of 8,000 interns to government ministries, departments and agencies.
In an advertisement, the commission has extended the period to August 23, 2023.
“The duration of the internship is 12 months, non-renewable,” read the advertisement.
The interns will be paid a stipend at a rate as determined by the Government.
The Public Service Internship Programme (PSIP) is a Government youth empowerment programme whose main objective is to offer college graduates the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and build skills in order to enhance their chances for employment, networking and entrepreneurship.
For appointment to an internship position, the commission noted that a candidate must meet several requirements.
He or She must have a Bachelor's degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
The candidate must have graduated not earlier than the year 2017 and be proficient in computer skills.
They are expected to complete duties mutually agreed upon and assigned by the supervisors.
He or she will also document relevant skills acquired in their areas of deployment.
In addition, they will actively participate in any relevant mentorship activities and additional responsibilities designed for the programme.
“On successful completion of the internship programme, the interns will be awarded a certificate,” reads the advertisement.
Interested and qualified graduates have been requested to make their applications through the Commission's job portal accessible through www.publicservice.go.ke or www.psckjobs.go.ke.
