Duale: Armed forced to have modernised protective gadgets by December

Kenya is set to receive modernised equipment as the armed forces continue to battle al Shabaab.

Defence Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale on Wednesday said by December, the forces will have very protected modernized equipment.

"This administration promised that they are going to modernize the KDF, airforce, army, navy, our special forces and cyber security," he said during an Interview on the JKL show at Citizen TV.

The CS said gadgets will help the armed forces to deal with terrorist groups.

"Our teams battling al Shabaab will never be victims of IEDs and all other small choices of weapons that the terror group uses," Duale added.

Earlier, the former Garrissa township MP said that the Kenya Defense Forces will, according to their constitutional mandate with other security agents, defend the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the county from all forms of internal and external threat.

"I want to affirm that the outlawed militia shall not find abode in Kenya once they are flushed out of Somalia and we shall track them to degrade their infrastructure in Somalia," he said.

He said the Ministry of Defence is enhancing the capability of the Kenya Defense Forces to acquire modern and sophisticated weapons to enable them to combat the ever-changing security threat.

"I want to state that we will deal with al Shabaab menace once and for all. We will not allow these rag-tag militants to continue carrying out attacks in our county, killing our citizens and injuring others," Duale said.

"We will not allow them to preach radical ideologies to our people and kill our citizens."
