Education reform report to be released today

CBC, JSS and other recommendations have been captured in report

President William Ruto will on Tuesday receive the much-awaited report on the Presidential Working Party on Education Reforms [PWPER].

Education CS Ezekiel Machogu made the announcement on Monday during the release of the 2022 KCSE university placement results at the Kenya School of Government.

He said several recommendations in the education sector have been captured in the report.

However, the CS did not give finer details of the report adding that the details will be unveiled by the president.

"We are releasing the report on the Presidential Working Party tomorrow. A lot is contained in that report as we undertake reforms in the various sectors of education," Machogu said.

"There are quite a number of recommendations which have been made and already we have implemented some, particularly on the first one which was most critical of domiciling our Junior Secondary School in the existing Primary schools," he said.

"We are also having far rating recommendations which will be announced tomorrow, particularly on the number of running areas at the CBC levels."

The Presidential Working Party on Education Reform team was appointed by Ruto in a gazette notice No 11920 of September 30, 2022.

The team was seeking views from the public and other sector stakeholders to inform its terms of reference with respect to the reform of the education sector in Kenya.

PWPER has been open to receiving views from individuals, public and private institutions and all other interested parties.

The PWPER was chaired by Prof Raphael Munavu.
