Public Service and Gender Cabinet Secretary Aisha Jumwa has told off the clergy for asking President William Ruto to have a dialogue with Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
Jumwa said the men of God should instead prevail upon the Opposition leader and let him understand that he lost the elections and should move on.
"Stop giving statements asking President William Ruto to go hold dialogue with Raila Odinga. Convene yourselves and go talk to the Opposition leader and tell him the truth that it doesn't matter whether you lost by a million votes or one vote, let the President do his work."
She referred them to the scripture and advised them to read the book of James 4:17 as a guiding principle in their quest to execute their work.
"I want you to read it and abide by it," Jumwa said.
The section of the book says, "Remember, it is a sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it".
Jumwa said Kenya is a country that is led by the rule of law, which law was followed during the August 9 polls.
She said church leaders have no moral basis to go against what the law says by prevailing upon the President to hold talks with an opponent he beat fair and square at the ballot.
Jumwa was speaking on Friday during the opening of the Kichwa Cha Kati Fish Market in Malindi where she had accompanied Ruto on a working tour of Kilifi county.
Her sentiments came days after Ruto extended an invite to Raila for talks at the opposition chief's convenience.
"My friend Raila Odinga, I'm off to Tanzania for a human capital meeting to harmonise the expansion of employment opportunities in our continent. I'm back tomorrow evening, and as you have always known, I'm available to meet one on one with you anytime at your convenience," Ruto said in a tweet on Tuesday evening.
But Jumwa asked Ruto not to entertain any form of talks with Raila saying Kenyans did not give him the mandate to lead the country collectively with the opposition.
"To our President whom we love, I followed you because I believed in you and even tomorrow I will still believe that you can end our problems as a country," she said.
"Your Excellency the President, finish the problems for us because if you don't, whoever will take over will bring us the same disaster."
The CS asked Ruto to remain firm and refuse any form of dialogue with Raila saying if he must talk to the Opposition leader, let it be nothing more than a phone call.
"Lakini kwetu sisi tunasema tulikupa nafasi kama Wakenya uongoze hii nchi na mambo ya kugawanyiana, na mambo sijui ya nusu mkate, hilo sisi tumekataa."
"Lazima uhakikishe ya kwamba hii Kenya utaiongoza wewe na manifesto yako, hakuna ambaye atakujazia katika manifesto yako."
It remains to be seen whether or not the talks will happen as Ruto indicated considering that Raila has termed the invite a public relations gimmick.
The Azimio leader further cited the trust deficit on Ruto's side and said there must be a mediator during the talks because he does not believe Ruto is serious.
He said if the President was serious about the talks, he would never have invited him via social media.
"He knows my address he knows my telephone number and everything. He is just playing games. That is like a public relations exercise," Raila said during an interview with Aljazeera on Wednesday.
"So I don't believe that Mr Ruto is serious at all. He is double speak, on one side when it suits him he talks very nicely and says I'm ready for talks any time."
Raila denied claims that he wants dialogue to negotiate for power sharing saying the country is facing a crisis that requires a serious approach and address.
