

Several parts of the country are expected to experience increased rainfall
this week, the Kenya Meteorological Department has said.
This is according to the latest weather forecast for October 21 to October
27, 2025.
According to the forecast, rainfall is likely over the Central Highlands
(including Nairobi), the Lake Victoria Basin, Western Kenya, the South-eastern
Lowlands, the Rift Valley and parts of North-western Kenya.
“Isolated heavy rainfall events may occur over some parts of these regions,”
the department warned.
Kenya Met advised residents to remain alert and take necessary precautions
to avoid potential weather-related risks such as flooding or reduced
visibility.
At the same time, daytime temperatures above 30°C are expected in the
Coastal, North-eastern and North-western regions.
In contrast, night-time temperatures below 10°C may occur in parts of the
Central Highlands, the Central Rift Valley and areas near Mt Kilimanjaro.
The weatherman urged the public to stay updated on daily forecasts and take
appropriate measures, especially in areas prone to extreme weather conditions.
Met said the Highlands West of the Rift
Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley will likely experience morning
rains over few places.
The regions will also have afternoon showers and
thunderstorms, and night over few places occasionally spreading to several
places.
The counties in the region include (Nandi, Kakamega,
Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet,
West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok.
In the North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu
Counties), morning rains as well as afternoon and night showers and
thunderstorms are likely to occur over few places.
In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley there is likely
to be cloudy mornings with occasional rains over few places, giving way to
sunny intervals.
Afternoon showers are likely to occur over few to
several places with partly cloudy nights, though showers may occur over few to
several places.
The affected counties include Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang'a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi.
Kenya Met forecast the likelihood of sunny intervals during
the days with partly cloudy nights at the North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera,
Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo counties).
“However, there is a possibility of morning rains as
well as afternoon and night showers occurring in a few areas in Marsabit
County,” the weatherman added.
In the South-eastern lowlands, sunny intervals are
expected during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, there is a possibility of morning rains as
well as afternoon and night showers occurring in a few to several areas in the
second half of the forecast period.
The affected counties include Machakos, Kitui, Makueni,
Kajiado and Taita-Taveta counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River
County.
The Coast (Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as
well as the coastal parts of Tana-
River County), will have sunny intervals during the
day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
However, there is a possibility of morning and
afternoon showers occurring over few places.
