Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka now claims that he has been under arrest since Tuesday.

Kalonzo response follows his loud absence from the three-day protests called by the Opposition.

According to the former vice president's communication person Paloma Gatabaki, police had been stationed outside his house since Tuesday.

She said this prevented the Wiper leader from leaving his home.

"Yes, it is true that H.E Kalonzo Musyoka has been under house arrest since Tuesday evening. The Subarus and land rovers have been stationed outside his Karen residence preventing him from leaving," Gatabaki said in a tweet that Kalonzo retweeted.

Azimio leaders including coalition leader Raila Odinga have given the protests a wide berth since Wednesday.

None of them has come out to join their supporters who have been engaging in running battles with the police.

On Thursday, Raila said that his absence was because he has been battling a bad flu.

"Nilipata homa mbaya sana... Lakini sasa nazidi kupata afueni. Nitakuwa sawa sawa," he said.

Raila said he was staying in connection with the other leaders as they led demos in their respective regions.

He noted that the demos were organised to benefit Kenyans, adding that the Azimio co-principals did not need to be present for them.

Narc Kenya's Martha Karua has, however, been issuing statements on behalf of the Opposition.

The Star understands that ahead of the demos, police were deployed outside the homes of Azimio's co-principals.

The state also withdrew security belonging to leaders allied to the Azimio coalition.
