Kenyans have kept off Mombasa Road following the anticipated national anti-government demonstrations.

There was equally little movement among citizens in major towns within the county.

However, there was a calmness in Mlolongo, Athi River, Kyumbi and Machakos towns with minimal movements as compared to other days and increased police presence in the towns and along the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.

High numbers of police officers have been deployed in the three towns among others within the county.

In Mlolongo and Machakos towns, the majority have kept off the towns with most of the shops and other businesses closed down.

Mlolongo town has been deserted with very few people going around with their businesses.

Only a few matatus are in operation while most of the PSVs have suspended their operations.

At Machakos Stage in Machakos town, very few public service vehicles are there.

The majority of those in the transport industry from the region have removed their vehicles from town and kept them off.
