•Four CSs were given a ranking of one per cent.

•Other members of the cabinet were given a score of four percent combined

President William Ruto chairs a Cabinet meeting on June 27, 2023.

Out of the 22 Cabinet Secretaries in President William Ruto's government, none recorded a performance above 40 per cent, a Tifa survey has showed.

This is despite the CSs being in office for almost 10 months since they took the oath of office in October 2022.

In the polls released on Thursday, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki was ranked the best with 34 per cent.

However, some of the Kenyans interviewed by Tifa said they never identified any best-performing CS.

Another 40 per cent of the respondents felt that no senior official fitted the tag of the best-performing officer.

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya has been poking holes in President Ruto's 22-member Cabinet claiming that the integrity of most of the individuals is questionable and hence they are undeserving of the said dockets.

Going back to the Tifa polls, the worst-performing CSs scored below one percent — more than half the Cabinet got this score.

Four CSs were given a ranking of one per cent— Trade CS Moses Kuria, Aden Duale ( Defence), Eliud Owalo ( ICT), Njunguna Ndung'u ( Treasury) and Musalia Mudavadi (Prime Cabinet Secretary).

Other members of the cabinet were given a score of four per cent combined

They include Simon Chelugui (Co-operatives and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development, MSMEs), Davis Chirchir (Energy and Petroleum), Alfred Mutua (Foreign Affairs), Alice Wahome (Water, sanitation and irrigation) and Salim Mvurya (Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs).

Others are Soipan Tuya (Environment and Forestry), Aisha Jumwa (Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action), Rebecca Miano (East African Community, Arid and Semi-Arid Lands and Regional Development), Peninah Malonza (Tourism and Wildlife ), Zacharia Njeru (Lands, Housing and Urban Development), Mithika Linturi (Agriculture ) and Florence Bore (Labour and Social Protection).

1,530 respondents were interviewed between June 24 and June 30, 2023.

The sample was spread across nine regions which include Central Rift, Coast, Lower Eastern, Mt Kenya, Nairobi, Northern, Nyanza, South Rift and Western.

The interviews were conducted over the telephone.

There was a +/- 2.5 % margin of error.
