A former TV personality has taken her estranged partner to court seeking Sh2.7 million monthly upkeep for the welfare of their three kids.

AK claims her estranged partner, a former State House official, named in court papers at JG claims he has neglected to take parental responsibility for her 13-year-old child and their 6-year-old twins whom he assumed parental responsibility when they met.

She wants the court to order him to pay Sh2.7 million for monthly maintenance on the 5th of every month which will cater for expenses in running the home.

In the alternative, she wants the court to order him to deposit Sh413,760,000 for the children’s upkeep until they turn 18 years.

She argues that JG had introduced the kids to a high standard of living while living in Runda but in an unexpected turn of events, and for no apparent reason he systematically dropped all support for the three minors in 2018.

The monthly upkeep is broken down as follows; Food, toiletries and personal effects and grooming for all three children at 600,000 per month, rent at Sh555,555 per month for a house in Runda, Nanny Sh163,192, housekeeper (Sh48,677), chef (Sh77,614), driver (Sh77,614) and Utility bills (Sh250,000).

She wants Sh300,000 each for each child totalling Sh900,000 monthly for Entertainment which includes outings, extracurricular activities during weekends, library membership, STEM club, Horse riding at a reputable riding school as before, Tennis and golf at the Muthaiga Country Club and Golf Course

She also wants a further Sh632,285 in school fees per term for her eldest child while the twins’ fees are capped at Sh414,028 per term.

She also wants Sh60,000 every quarter for age-appropriate toys for each child and Sh1 million for each child’s birthday celebration.

AK also wants a car - a sports utility vehicle- to be provided to be on standby to be used by the minors on a need basis.

She says since she lost her job in 2020, the children have dropped out of school and have been homeschooling

“The needs of the minors continue to subsist every day and there exists a great risk that the subject minors will be rendered destitute if the defendant continues neglecting his own children in the manner that he is doing despite having introduced such high standards,” reads court papers.

She says that the kids have been undergoing mental anguish, emotional, social and psychological distress ever since their father disappeared from their lives and stopped supporting them in 2020.

“The three minors are used to a certain kind of lifestyle and that needs to be maintained to ensure their emotional needs are not compromised. Therefore, in an attempt to maintain the level of lifestyle which the minors were used to and to ensure that they do not fall into depression, the plaintiff has been taking loans,” reads court papers.

According to court papers, JG stopped paying upkeep for the first born and she is yet to resume formal education. Then he withdrew support for all workers, nannies, chefs, security and eventually stopped visiting the children altogether.
