President William Ruto has said that the ongoing war in Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo is unacceptable.
Speaking on Monday when he addressed the African Private Sector Dialogue on African Continental Free Trade Area in Nairobi, Ruto said it was time the African continent unites to be able to work together.
He said that instead of fighting, the potential in African youths should be tapped to help the continent move forward.
Ruto insisted that there was no need to destroy Africa's resources and infrastructure, all in the name of fight, yet the time can be used to build a stronger continent.
"We must also act together on matters of peace and security. It is not possible that this continent shall continue to be a place of conflict and war. What is going on in Sudan is unacceptable, what is going on in DRC is unacceptable.
"We must be able to work together so that we do not destroy our infrastructure. We do not destroy our resources and we harness the full potential of the African people for them to make progress," he said.
The head of state has previously said that Kenya was ready to host a process of mediation between the parties to the Sudan peace agreement.
According to Ruto, this was a show of Kenya’s commitment and support to having a peaceful resolution of the conflict in the nation.
“We invite the parties to take full advantage of this opportunity and urge IGAD, AU and the UN to mobilise an effective international coalition to support a comprehensive peace-making agenda for Sudan,” said the President.
