Kenyans in need of urgent passport processing will now be able to get their documents.

The Directorate of Immigration Services on Thursday said the move is aimed at fulfilling its mandate and commitment to serve citizens.

It however said anyone in need of the document urgently, will have to contact the department with proof.

"Therefore, for urgent passport processing kindly contact @ImmigrationDept and provide documentary proof of urgency," it said.

It further directed those in need to call the hotline at +254 110 922 065 or call centre at +254 110 923 423.

Office visitations are also allowed from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays at Nyayo House- Passport Section, Customer Care Desk or Counter 16 or 17. 

In April, the government received more than 100,000 passport printing booklets ordered from abroad.

On May 14, Immigration PS Julius Bitok said those who had applied for passports will get them shortly.

"More than 20,000 Kenyans who have applied for passports can now pick them because we are expecting another 100,000 booklets by end-month," he said.

He added that from July, they will print more than 5,000 passport books daily.

This is meant to address delays in the issuing of the travelling document.

"We have now rectified the situation and as of July, we will be printing 5,000 booklets daily so that applicants can receive the documents within the shortest time possible," Bitok said.
