Shujaa began their playoff pool fixtures at the London 7s with a 24-19 come-from-behind victory over Canada on Saturday afternoon at Twickenham.
Alex Russell put Canada ahead with a third-minute try that was converted by Thomas Isherwood as the North Americans took a 7-0 lead.
Kevin Wekesa scored Kenya's try that Tony Omondi converted to level the score at 7-7.
Russell and Wekesa traded tries but it was Omondi’s conversion that was the difference as Shujaa led 14-12 at the interval.
Max Stewart would pounce on a stray pass after the break, scoring under the posts with Isherwood converting for a 19-14 Canada lead.
Tries from Wekesa and Edmund Anya sealed the victory for Shujaa who next play Tonga at 4.59pm East African Time.
