Besieged Jubilee party has secured a yet-to-be-disclosed venue for its May 22 National Delegates Convention.
National Vice-chairperson David Murathe said the planned NDC will go on Monday despite schemes by the government to block them from public venues.
"Our meeting is on. We will advertise the venue and also invite our delegates through text messages. They will be notified beforehand," said Murathe.
According to the embattled official, retired President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is leading one faction as the party leader, will preside over the NDC.
There are reports that the party could have secured a private residence or institution for the event on Monday.
Top Azimio luminaries including Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka and Martha Karua are also expected to grace the convention.
Murathe said the yet-to-be-announced venue will be advertised in local dailies ahead of Monday's event.
A notice inviting the delegates for the NDC had listed Bomas of Kenya as the venue but the government institution has since alerted Jubilee that the auditorium will not be available.
Bomas of Kenya marketing and corporate communications manager Gladys Kangethe told Jubilee acting executive director Polycarp Hinga, in a letter that, the venue was not available.
Kangethe indicated that the main auditorium, which has a capacity of 2,000 people, was scheduled to undergo renovation works for eight weeks from May 16.
"As you are aware, we are currently hosting the Task Force Committees dealing with known and sensitive matters of national importance, while another client has already booked our other alternative hall," reads Ms Kangethe's letter to Hinga, dated May 12.
Murathe said the yet-to-be-announced venue will be advertised in local dailies ahead of Monday's event.
