Former Sports CS Rashid Echesa has broken his silence after landing a state appointment.

 

Echesa said he looks forward to giving his best to help Ruto achieve the Kenya Kwanza promises made during campaigns.

He also thanked President Ruto for appointing him to the role, saying that it was an honour.

"Congratulations to me for this next step. I am indebted and beholden to H.E. The President Dr. William Ruto for considering me for this noble appointment as the Chairman of Kenya Water Towers Agency Board (KWTA). I look forward to working diligently and industriously so as to fulfil KK manifestos to the people of Kenya. Mungu mbele," Echesa said on Friday.

His remarks come after President William Ruto appointed him the chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board (KWTA).

In his new role, Echesa will serve for a period of three years, effective May 19, 2023.

"I, William Samoei Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces, appoint Rashid Echesa to be the Chairperson of the Kenya Water Towers Agency Board, for a period of three (3) years, with effect from the 19th May 2023," reads the gazette notice dated May 18.

He takes over from L. Arch. Robert M. Kariuki, whose appointment was revoked by Ruto.

Kariuki was an appointee of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.
