Defence CS Aden Duale has detailed the events that led to Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka losing a shot at the presidency in 2013.

Speaking on Thursday at Spice FM, Duale claimed that Kalonzo said President William Ruto and former President Uhuru Kenyatta will be jailed in ICC.

Duale narrated how Ruto, Uhuru and Prime Cabinet CS Musalia Mudavadi approached Kalonzo to be the presidential candidate in 2013.

The leaders had proposed that Kalonzo should take presidential candidate, Uhuru to be the running mate and Ruto to hold the majority leader's office.

Kalonzo was to take charge of the government in case the ICC case became complicated.

"They told Kalonzo that they will share the government 33 per cent but they had demanded, we are facing a serious issue we are giving to you as a good friend in the event ICC story becomes complicated, we have a government," Duale said.

However, Kalonzo replied by telling them that he had studied the ICC case and evidence and that he was sure Uhuru and Ruto would be jailed.

"Kalonzo by nature is very casual in his talk, so Kalonzo just said your case is not that bad, I have studied ICC's case and evidence and I confirmed that you people will be jailed for around ten years" Duale said.

Kalonzo said he will be president for the ten years the two leaders will be in jail at ICC and hand over power when they have served their terms.

The CS said that his sentiments infuriated the former president and he walked away.

Kalonzo later realised that he had made a blunder and asked how he can do the damage control but the offer was not still on the table.
