To remove the aircraft from the runway, they were required to evacuate 100 tonnes of cargo and the replacement of the damaged fires before they could be towed to safety.

The successful removal of the plane at around 1640hrs was undertaken by a technical team from KAA, Kenya Airways (KQ), Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) and other stakeholders.

The Authority has advised passengers to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates on the status of their flights.

"We regret the inconvenience caused by today's incident and extend our gratitude to the technical team, airport staff, and stakeholders who worked tirelessly to resolve the incident," KAA said.
