Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has asked President William Ruto not to be destructed by the weekly Azimio protests in the execution of his mandate.

The DP told the President he has an obligation to deliver the economic transformation of the country and uplift the living standards of Kenyans.

"We encourage you to stay focused, let the detractors not sway you. Keep your eyes on the ball and that way you will succeed," he said.

He spoke on Friday during the Public Service Commission Launch of the Values and Principles Compliance Report 2021-2022, KICC, Nairobi.

Gachagua said the President took the oath of office and swore to protect the fidelity of the Constitution and those asking him to violate the supreme law by pushing for a handshake "are being unfair to him."

"There is no provision in our Constitution for a handshake arrangement. It's not there," he said.

Azimio leader Raila Odinga has mounted pressure on President William Ruto by declaring twin weekly mass demonstrations demanding that the President acts and lowers the cost of living.

He has also demanded that the process of reconstituting the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission be suspended and started afresh, accusing Ruto of attempting to singlehandedly replace vacant positions.

Raila also wants data in IEBC servers made public to ascertain the results of the August 9 presidential elections we he insists he won with 8.1 million votes against Ruto's 6.9 million.

The former prime minister has also called for the reinstatement of the four dissenting former IEBC commissioners who disputed Ruto's win.

Both Ruto and Gachagua have dismissed those demands as unrealistic saying they won the polls fair and square and accused Raila of trying to push for a handshake like he did with retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

"The President cannot reinstate IEBC commissioners. He doesn't have those powers," Gachagua said.

"The President could not even know where the server is stored because it's not his work.

The DP took a swipe at the Opposition in a thinly veiled mock statement saying they are looking for the server in the most unrealistic places.

"This server is being looked for in Muukuru Kayaba, in Koinange Street, I don't know where they are looking for it. We are also interested to know where it is," he said.
