Ugunja MP and minority whip  Opiyo Wandayi has told the International community to come out and condemn the alleged attempted murder of Azimio leader Raila Odinga.

Wandayi noted that they had information that the international community had condemned the police brutality against journalists.

The US government had expressed concern over the growing cases of attacks against journalists in Kenya while in their line of duty.

"The United States is deeply concerned by recent reports of attacks against journalists. Protecting press freedom and safety is a cornerstone of democracy," Whitman said in a statement on Twitter.

However, Wandayi said the international community must equally condemn the police for targeting Raila.

"The reason why am referring to this is that the International community cannot exhibit selective amnesia".

He said one cannot condemn the attack on journalists and leave to condemn the attempted murder of Raila Odinga by the police.

"If you want us to trust you and believe in you in the same manner you are condemning the excess against the media you must come out and categorically condemn attempted murder against Raila," Wandayi said.

He was speaking in Gem during the funeral of the first elected woman MP and Mayor Mama Grace Onyango, saying the International community and church must come out and condemn this.

"You can remember in 1994 when a mistake was made in Rwanda and the President was assassinated while on because you choose not to speak out and within one month, the Rwandees lost almost a million people," Wandayi said

The MP added:

"Is the International community waiting for Kenya to plug into genocide so they can speak out or what are they waiting for."

"If you truly mean well for us you must come out and call out Ruto and his regime on this today, there are no two ways about it," he added
