President William Ruto has appointed the immediate former Solicitor General Kennedy Ogeto as his Legal Affairs Advisor.

In a statement on Thursday, Head of Public Service Felix Koskei said the appointment is part of the President's amplification of the governance and delivery function in his office.

"The governance and delivery functions will augment the existing institutional framework and aim to promote accountability, transparency, productivity and openness in the management of public affairs not only within the Executive Office but also across all State Organs and Agencies," Koskei said.

He said in line with this, the President has also appointed Kanza Nzai Munyika as the Political Affairs Advisor and Agnes Odhiambo as Head of Government Delivery Services.

Speaking on Monday after the swearing-in ceremony of Shadrack Mose as the new Solicitor General at State House, Nairobi, Ruto said Ogeto's distinguished service to the nation would not go unrewarded.

He said he looks forward to working with him in other capacities in the future owing to his vast experience in legal field.

"I have worked with him even in this transition period and I'm very confident and I already told him that the future is bright and he will move on to other responsibilities that would tap into the experience that he has acquired," Ruto said.

The President said Ogeto has been very resourceful in resolving some of the outstanding contractual issues that the government has with other entities.

"On behalf of myself and this administration, to Ken Ogeto, thank you very much for what you have done in the service of our great nation," Ruto said.

Ogeto was sworn-in as Solicitor General on March 20, 2018 in a brief ceremony at State House officiated by the then Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua and witnessed by retired President Uhuru Kenyatta.

It followed his nomination by Uhuru on February 13 to succeed Njee Muturi who took over as Uhuru's Deputy Chief of Staff.

Ogeto, a lawyer by profession, was approved by Parliament on March 14, 2018.

His duties, like those of his successor, included organising, co-coordinating and managing the administrative and sometimes legal functions of the office of the Attorney General.
