Former nominated MP Wilson Sossion said Monday’s demonstrations by Azimio coalition did not bear the hallmark of what can be rated as a successful demonstration.

Sossion said the demonstrations were only limited to some parts of the country.

He added that the rest of the country was generally peaceful which meant Azimio coalition’s goals for the demonstrations were not achieved.

“It was only restricted to Nairobi, Kisumu and very limited in a few other areas but the rest of the country was indeed very peaceful so you cannot rate it as a success.

"It wasn’t even if it continues for two, three, four days it will not grow in any magnitude because the message and agenda is very deceitful,” Sossion said on K24 on Tuesday.

He expressed dissatisfaction with Azimio’s demo request to have IEBC servers opened saying the electioneering period was over and that the faction should accept the outcome.

“Azimio still wants to make arguments about the elections and that’s a closed chapter. 2022 elections are closed and the constitution is very clear, the petition was made to the supreme court and the matter was prosecuted before the entire world,” he said.

“One objective of trying to whip the masses about the general elections, how were elections stolen? At this hour we cannot be arguing about the same so that’s why it’s limited to a few towns and even if the demonstrations are repeated tomorrow it will remain limited to a few towns.”

Sossion called out those who were disruptive and those who engaged in violence during Monday’s demos saying they contravened the rule of law.

“When you talk of the right to demonstrate you have no right to destroy property. We saw destruction of property, even in buildings within the city,” Sossion said.
