Kalonzo, Karua join Raila for Azimio protests

Wiper boss Kalonzo Musyoka and Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua have joined opposition chief Raila Odinga for the mass protests in Nairobi.

There were concerns if Kalonzo, who has previously skipped most of Raila's demonstrations, would show upKalonzo turned up in full combat gear, just like Raila and other Azimio leaders, as they attempted to push their way into the Nairobi CBD.

However, they were repulsed and forced to make rounds outside the CBD including Kamkunji and Eastleigh. 

"This is the day," Kalonzo said to a charged crowd in Nairobi's Eastleigh where Azimio leaders addressed supporters.

"The (police) have shown that they have no respect for the rule of law, they have teargassed peaceful demonstrators," Kalonzo said.

Karua was earlier said to have been unable to get out of her house after police barricaded roads leading to her home.

The leaders met at Serena hotel where they had planned to address the press but the briefing was aborted after police lobbed teargas.
