Karua makes changes in party leadership

The Narc-Kenya party of Martha Karua has announced new changes in its leadership.

In the changes affecting the National executive council (NEC), Karua has named Asha Bashir as the deputy secretary general to replace Rosa Wangu while Fatuma Abass who has been the organising secretary will be the treasurer.

Abass replaces Elijah Moindi, former Nyaribari Masaba MP, who has been kicked out.

Wangu who has been the deputy youth leader now assumes the position of a women leader as Joyce Mwakireti is named the new deputy women leader to replace Catherine Nyamato.

"Pursuant to section 20 (2) of the political parties Act 2011, NARC Kenya notifies the general in its national executive council in the named positions, " reads a notice signed by secretary general Orwa Michael.

In the other changes, Ribathi Gichukie is the new organising secretary, Diana Nago (deputy youth leader) and Ngugi Ndegwa (youth leader).

The party has not given any reasons why it has effected the changes.

Karua was elected the party leader in 2008.

The party was founded in 2005.
