Petrol price up by Sh2 as diesel, Kerosene remain unchanged

EPRA has announced that the price of Super Petrol has increased by Sh 2.

This is according to the latest review by the energy regulator, released on Tuesday, March 14.

EPRA said the price of diesel and kerosene will remain unchanged.

"In the period under review, the maximum allowed petroleum pump price of Super Petrol increases by Sh2 per litre while that of diesel and kerosene remain unchanged," EPRA said. 

The prices are inclusive of the 8 per cent Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018, the Tax Laws (Amendment) Act 2020 and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No. 194 of 2020.

The regulator added that the price of diesel has been cross-subsidized with that of super petrol.

"A subsidy of Sh23.49  per litre has been maintained for kerosene in order to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices," it added.

The new review presents the change in the price of fuel since November 15, 2022. 

In the EPRA review on November 14, the prices had dropped by Sh1.

The price change applies to a litre of Super Petrol, diesel and Kerosene.

A litre of super petrol retailed at Sh177.30, diesel at Sh162 and kerosene at Sh145.94, till February.
