Atwoli said, while he fully supports the Kenya Kwanza government's efforts to probe the looting of public funds, those who withdrew taxpayers' money, and their beneficiaries, should be revealed and punished.

According to Atwoli, full details of the so-called Cabinet Secretaries and Principle Secretaries who were involved will end speculations that some of the big guns in Azimio benefited from the money.

“They should be mentioned and be shamed so that justice to Kenyans and to our country is met,” Atwoli said at a press conference at his Kwale home.

“If we don't say so, people will continue suspecting because when they see you and you were in Azimio they will think that you are the one who ran away with public money.”

Atwoli, who campaigned for Azimio leader Raila Odinga, said that all those who were involved in the use of public funds ostensibly for campaigns must be brought to book.

The Central Organisation of Trade Unions has since shifted allegiance to President William Ruto.

Atwoli said thorough investigations will clear the air that there could have been Azimio leaders who were using taxpayers' money for campaigns.

Atwoli said some Azimio luminaries spent their own funds to lobby Kenyans to support Raila without benefiting from public funds.

“I want to support the statement that was made by Gachagua because as we were carrying out campaigns some of us were not being funded by anyone else,” he said.

“So those were taking government money or going to President Uhuru Kenyatta or to Raila Odinga or to anybody listing our names saying these are the people we are funding and we want this money given to us, yet this money couldn't reach the recipients, must be known to Kenyans.”

The veteran unionist said those who are alleged to have looted public resources must be summoned by authorities and questioned so that the truth will be known.

Gachagua had said that he will soon reveal the names of CSs and PSs who used public funds for campaigns in the last days of retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.

He claimed that money was being ferried to the Wilson Airport in Cartons before being flown to some people's homes in choppers.
