Former Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has said the United Democratic Alliance Party sought his services before appointing him as the party's secretary general.

According to the former senator, the ruling party saw his leadership skills and talents and deemed him fit for the role.

The former senator said he had a prior discussion with Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi on moving from ANC to UDA.

"I was a member of the ANC and I want to thank the party leader Musalia Mudavadi for mentoring me. He gave me a platform and position to play in his party in which my current team identified me and requested to have the services of my talent in this very party," Malala said.
