US First Lady Jill Biden arrived in Kenya on Friday, for a two-day visit, expected to end on Sunday, February 26.

Jill's visit is aimed at strengthening the United States bilateral partnership and advancing shared priorities in the region.

A statement released by the White House showing her itinerary said Jill will hold a closed-door meeting with First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto shortly after her arrival.

Thereafter, she will participate in a women's empowerment reception with US Ambassador Meg Whitman.

"This event will be pooled press," the White House said.

On Saturday, the First Lady is expected to engage in an entrepreneurship and sustainability event with a local company connecting tractor owners and farmers.

Discussions on how young entrepreneurs are transforming agricultural practices in Kenya through technology, improving livelihoods and food security.

"Afterwards, the First Lady will join First Lady Mama Rachel to meet with local women as part of Rachel's Joyful Women initiative that promotes women's economic empowerment and financial inclusion," the statement read.

Later on Saturday, Jill will attend a Shujaaz Konnect Festival, a youth empowerment event, presented in collaboration with The MTV Staying Alive Foundation.

It will spotlight the US government's support through the President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).

The White House said Saturday's events will be open to the press. 

On Sunday morning, Jill is expected to travel to visit a drought-affected area to highlight the impacts of drought on communities.

"In the evening, the First Lady will depart Nairobi, Kenya. This departure will be covered by the travelling pool," the White House said.
