Uhuru to lead his Cabinet in mourning Prof Magoha

Prof Magoha passed away on Tuesday evening.

Sources said the former President had asked his Cabinet for a meeting at a city hotel to discuss how they can also help the family of Prof Magoha. 

The meeting was scheduled to start at 5pm and run to the night. Apart from the former Cabinet, other “like minded” members of the former Executive were also invited. 

“The former President is keen to participate in the whole plans of the funeral and help the family in any manner they may need,” said an official aware of the plans. 

Uhuru and his team also plan to visit the family at their home to offer their condolences. 

Uhuru plucked Prof Magoha from his private practice and appointed him as chairman of Kenya National Examination Council. 

He later named him the Cabinet Secretary for Education in 2019. 

Uhuru eulogised Prof Magoha as a celebrated academic who leaves behind a strong legacy of public service.

"It is unfortunate and painful that we've lost my friend Prof George Magoha at a time when his family is mourning his brother," the former President said as he wished the Magoha family God's comfort during this difficult period of immense grief.
