Amani National Congress party has refuted claims that Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua are in a cold war.

Addressing the media on Tuesday, ANC deputy party leader Margaret Ntokai termed the cold war reports as petty politics saying the two are in good rapport.

“I want to disagree and to refute claims that Mudavadi and Gachagua are at loggerheads,” she said.

“I don't think that the DP and Prime secretary Cabinet can engage in any kind of war because they want the government to succeed in its agenda.”

Gachagua had criticised Sakaja's move to relocate long-distance matatus from the CBD to Greenpark terminus.

However, Ntokai said the two leaders were given a mandate by President William Ruto to work for Kenyans and support his leadership and having power battles was not their agenda.

She said if the two leaders go to war, the grass (wananchi ) will suffer and the president has faith in them and that is why they were added more roles.

“So people should stop those petty politics, especially some branches who are trying to bring animosity between those two, should stop. Those people are friends and let’s give them time to work,” Ntokai said.

The war had drawn in opinions from the opposition.

Azimio spokesperson Makau Mutua had claimed that Ruto wanted Mudavadi to surpass his Deputy.

Mutua claimed that Ruto wants Mudavadi at the top by making Gachagua ineffective.

MPs from Western Kenya counties called on Ruto to intervene and end the fight between his deputy and Nairobi.

Led by Lugari MP Nabii Nabwera, the secretary to the Western Kenya Members of Parliament Caucus, the leaders asked Gachagua to let Sakaja implement his pledges.

Bumula MP Jack Wamboka threatened to move an impeachment motion against Gachagua.

Nyeri Senator Wahome Wamatinga responded, warning Sakaja of impeachment if he continues "joking".
