Four people have perished after a vehicle that was transporting them was involved in an accident at Athiru Gaiti in the Igembe South constituency.
The Land Rover was carrying about 40 Miraa pickers to pick Miraa.
Nyambene Level Five Hospital Superintendent Githu Wachira said they received 32 people.
"Four succumbed to their injuries eight have been transferred to Meru Level Five hospital with serious injuries," Wachira said.
Wachira urged the government to build male wards in the hospital.
Drivers plying the route, especially those carrying Miraa pickers have been urged to take caution and avoid speeding.
