East Africa Community CS Rebecca Miano being sworn in as an ex-officio member of the EALA on Monday, December 19.

The East African Community CS Rebecca Miano has challenged the newly elected EALA MPs to ensure all stalled projects left by their predecessors are completed.

Speaking on Monday in Arusha after the swearing-in of the MPs to the fifth assembly, Miano assured them of full support from her ministry.

"There is unfinished business. A lot of legislation was carried over to the new assembly, especially set up of the monetary union protocol, which is still pending," Miano said.

The newly sworn in MPs were urged to use the platform to create awareness about the EAC to Kenyans.

Also, to highlight the economic opportunities the country and the bloc stand to gain through partnerships.

The new regional MPs include Hassan Omar, Iman Falhada, Kennedy Musyoka, Kanini Kega, Zipporah Kering, Godfrey Mwangi, Winnie Odinga, David Sankok and Suleiman Shahbal.

Miano was also sworn in, but as an ex-officio member of the EALA fifth assembly.

The CS swore to give the best service to the assembly and protect the treaty for the establishment of the community.

"I Rebecca Miano do swear that I will give true and faithful service to this assembly. I will be faithful and bear true allegiance to the EAC," she said.

"I will preserve, protect and defend the treaty for the establishment of the EAC, so help me God."

Miano had been sworn in during the EALA fourth assembly in November, soon after she had been accepted to the docket as a CS.
