Dagoretti North MP Beatrice Elachi has said that Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza could have avoided her impeachment by listening to the MCAs.
On Wednesday, 67 out of 69 MCAs voted yes to the impeachment motion tabled by DMK Kiogora Abogeta West MCA and Minority Party Whip.
Speaking on Thursday at NTV, Elachi said that the impeachment will cost the governor a lot to a point that she cannot assume any other public office.
"I wish she avoided the impeachment, Mwangaza had two ways to avoid it. She should have just sat down with the MCAs and listened. Sometimes we go down and listen," she said.
Elachi said that Mwangaza could have used her cleric skills to negotiate and agree with MCAs.
The impeachment motion was tabled at the Assembly on Wednesday morning.
"Honourable members, I wish to declare that the Governor of Meru Bishop Kawira Mwangaza stands impeached by the Meru County Assembly," Speaker Ayub Bundi Solomon said.
Ayub is expected to communicate with the Speaker of the Senate about the approval of the impeachment motion.
Within seven days, Speaker Amason Kingi will be required to convene the house for a sitting to hear Mwagaza's impeachment charges.
Mwangaza is the first governor to be impeached since the August 9 polls.
On November 30, the Meru court barred her impeachment motion.
Justice Wamae Cherere said the motion did not follow the correct procedure in initiating an ouster bid against Mwangaza.
The MCAs however initiated another impeachment motion leading to her ouster.
