Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo on Saturday introduced his beautiful family to the public as his sister and leaders spoke of his 'position one in class' from primary through to the university.
Together with his wife Linet Kohanya from Ng'iya in Alego Siaya, they have six children.
The firstborn is Rodney Abel Sewe Amolo. He is also an advocate, currently taking care of his father's law firm in Nairobi.
Rodney resembles his father in appearance and even deep voice.
Rodney also confirmed his oratory skills while speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony for the re-election of his father as MP at Ruma Primary School.
He speaks fluent Dholuo.
Rodney has a wife called Cecilia Chacha, from Kuria land in Migori county.
Cecilia is already learning to speak Dholuo.
The lawmaker says that all his children must converse with him in Dholuo.
The other one is Miriam Hope Onono Amolo whom the MP named after his mother and aunt.
Miriam is also a lawyer but she struggles to speak Dholuo.
The third born is Paul Amolo, named after himself, who is currently writing his Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams.
The fourth borns are triplets. They are Mich (Gift) Amolo, Ng'uono (Grace) Amolo and John Jayden Amolo Amolo.
At the prayer service, Otiende's elder sister and politician Elizabeth Ongoro spoke about the lawmaker's childhood, schooling and character.
Ongoro said that Otiende became thirsty for education when she started following her to Chianda primary school at the age of three.
Ongoro was then seven years old and in class two.
"He stubbornly refused to stay at home and followed us to school. Even if he was canned he did not stop going to school," Ongoro recalled.
That way, Otiende stayed in class one and became position one throughout his primary education.
There was no school fees or uniform to enable him to join Maranda High School in Bondo where he had been called.
Ongoro recalled that Otiende sewed her old sweater to make socks then trekked all the way to Maranda.
At the gate, the watchman called the games teacher who marvelled at Otiende's fluency in the English language.
The teacher then realized Otiende was number one on their list of students whom they had called for admission.
But he had nothing for boarding.
Ongoro said it was by the grace of god that her younger brother got admitted and would later excel to join the University of Nairobi Parklands campus to study law.
"When I took him for admission to law school, he told me that he would emerge with nothing but a first-class degree. Indeed he graduated with a first-class law degree."
Ongoro concludes that that was the power of determination.
Also, Ongoro jokingly revealed Otiende's often upsetting character of frowning.
"He likes to frown about things that he dislikes and no amount of pampering persuades him otherwise after that. This you can confirm with Nyar Ng'iya (his wife)," Ongoro said.
Ida Odinga who spoke at the thanksgiving event said that she knew Otiende around 2004 and knew he would one day become a great leader because of his charisma.
Otiende is a senior counsel and served as an Ombudsman before being elected as Rarieda MP in 2017.
Most Kenyans know him for his sharp brain and wonderful debating skills both in parliament and corridors of justice.
He participated in the drafting of the Kenyan Constitution 2010; currently in use.
