Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has revealed that he asked ex-interior PS Karanja Kibicho to arrest IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati.

In an interview with NTV, Owino questioned why Kibicho refused to arrest Chebukati at a time when all signs were clear that Raila Odinga was not to be declared the winner of the August 9, presidential election.

Owino accused Chebukati of bungling the August 9 presidential polls in favour of president William Ruto.

"I told him, the way things are moving we need to act very fast. Do you know what Kibicho told me, Babu Wacha vita," Owino told NTV.

The lawmaker went ahead questioning the loyalty of Kibicho and his role in the August polls.

"Nikasema what is happening na huyu mtu, was he part of this? This man was supposed to be our person but what is happening?" he said.

Owino divulged that he had asked Kibicho to let the embattled IEBC Vice Chair Juliana Cherera be the one to declare Odinga as the winner.

"Nikamwambia no it is you to arrest chebukati, or we go for a rerun. Nikasema yenyewe this was a fake deep state," he added.

The revelations come even as four IEBC commissioners who disowned results announced by IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati face a probe on their conduct during the August polls.

Already, three former commissioners led by ex-vice Chair Juliana Cherera, Francis Wanderi and Justus Nyang'aya have quit the office after they were suspended by President William Ruto.

Only commissioner Irene Masit is yet to vacate office.

Ruto also formed a tribunal to probe the four.

The President acted so after the Justice and legal affairs committee of the National Assembly recommended their suspension and formation of a tribunal to probe the four.

The report by JLAC degenerated into a storm after the opposition chief Raila Odinga declared what has been labelled as anti-Ruto protests for suspending the four.

The tribunal probing the four is led by justice Aggrey Muchelule and it is expected to resume sittings on December 20,

Witnesses testifying against Masit will be first to take the tribunal's dock.

The tribunal said the four commissioners will each be tried individually.
