Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has said they were up to the task in executing their opposition roles as Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya Coalition Party.
He said they will keep Kenya Kwanza’s administration in check as they patiently wait for 2027.
Kalonzo said President William Ruto’s government has no choice but to deliver on what they promised Kenyans.
He said the national government should prioritise Yatta Canal and Thwake Dam, among other projects in Ukambani, to end the perennial water scarcity problem in the region.
Kalonzo was speaking to residents in Ndalani, Yatta, in Machakos county, on Saturday.
He was accompanied by Machakos Governor Wavinya Ndeti and her deputy Francis Mwangangi.
Kalonzo said his presidential ambitions are still alive, urging the Kamba community to rally behind him.
He said Wiper has maintained dominance in Ukambani and given the high number of seats the party garnered in the last general election, the outfit and the community should be respected.
“This isn’t the same tribe of Kamba people who are said to be cheap. Nothing can now prevent Kalonzo from being president,” Kalonzo said.
“All Luos are now backing Kalonzo for President in 2027. We have to fight for the Constitution. I decided to step aside for Raila in 2022, now it’s time for Kalonzo to be president.”
He said Ruto is the only barrier to his presidency in the next polls.
Kalonzo said Wiper is the reason most Ukambani leaders, including governors, were elected in August polls.
“God has now decided to point his finger at Kalonzo for president. I have seen it all,” he said.
“My name was not in the ballot box but you voted for Raila Odinga and Martha Karua,” Kalonzo said.
