Detectives have arrested four suspects linked to the murder of Keagan Githua who was stabbed to death on October 30 at Ridgeways, Kiambu county.

Director general of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation Mohamed Amin said in a statement that the series of arrests started early Tuesday where the first suspect was nabbed at a city toilet along River Road, Nairobi.

The suspects had been trailed for about two weeks as detectives from Starehe consolidated crucial leads before launching the operation at 4am.

"One was using the phone that they were trailing and another suspect is one who sold the phone," a detective privy to the investigations told the Star on phone.

Police are pursuing two more suspects in connection with the murder.

Keagan, who had recently graduated from Strathmore University, was stabbed on the chest by robbers on a motorcycle.

The 24-year-old Information Technology graduate succumbed to his injuries on arrival at AAR hospital along Kiambu road where he was rushed by a Good Samaritan.

Witnesses said the gangsters stabbed him on the chest and robbed him his phone among other valuables before riding away on a motorbike.

His family and Garden Ridgeways Residents Association held a vigil at the scene a week ago.

The arrest of the suspects comes as Interior CS Kithure Kindiki and police chief Japhet Koome announced renewed war on knife-gangs following increased criminal activities in the city.
