A 15-year-old-boy has been arrested for armed robbery along the Southern Bypass.

A knife, which he allegedly used to stab victims was recovered.

"The arrest occurred along the Southern Bypass and inside the Nairobi National park, after he jumped into the park to evade arrest," the statement read.

While officers from Akila police station tried to move along the electric perimeter, rangers from the Kenya Wildlife Service saw this from their surveillance vehicles and came to their aid.

"The boy had exposed himself to  lions, leopards, hyenas and other dangerous carnivores who were hungry following the severe drought being experienced in the country," the statement said.

He was luckily arrested and handed over to the duty officer.

The suspect was taken to Akila police station where they recovered a knife he used to stab victims before taking off with their valuables.

Officers who were on patrol earlier along the same road noticed a confrontation between a group of people, after which the teenager took flight upon seeing them.

They learnt that the boy had been positively identified as the suspect behind an armed robbery, where  Abdullahi Mohamoud lost a phone (iPhone 13 promax) among other valuables on November 2, along the bypass close to South-C.

The juvenile is currently in custody being processed for arraignment.

"We thank the two KWS rangers William Katana and Hilary Kimutai, for their quick action leading to the arrest of the suspect," the DCI said.

"We continue to call upon members of the public with information regarding criminal gangs within their areas, to reach out to us anonymously through #FichuakwaDCI 0800 722 203 for action."
