Three Nairobi officials have missed out in the final of 51 Principal secretaries selected to serve in the Public service.
Outgoing Nairobi county CEC for Transport Mohammed Dagane and Chief Officer for Finance Mohamed Sahal have been shortlisted as Principal Secretary nominees.
Former CEC for Devolution Vesca Kagogo and Former Kamukunji MP aspirant Robow Mohammed also made it to the list.
The three apart from Robow served at City Hall under the second County Government of Nairobi under former Governor Mike Sonko.
They are among 477 shortlisted applicants out of 9,154 who applied for the positions ahead of the September 27, 2022 deadline.
Dagane has served in the Roads and Transport docket at City hall since he was sworn in November 2017.
Sahal
Sahal joined City Hall under Sonko's regime in May 2018 as Livestock and Fisheries chief officer.
A vetting report of inaugural chief officers tabled in the Nairobi County Assembly on May 3, 2018, indicated that Sahal was at the time studying for a doctorate of Business administration in strategic management from California Miramar University in California, United States.
The same report said he holds a Master's degree in Project Planning and Management from the University of Nairobi and a bachelor's degree in Development Studies from Kampala International University.
Sahal was then moved to the Health department after the sacking of chief officer, Mahat Jimale, in 2018.
In the last five years, he has served as Chief officer of various departments including health, finance, urban planning and others.
Sahal was the man of the moment where apart from being the most powerful chief officer for the Finance docket, he held the same position in the Health, disaster management and coordination and Trade departments at City Hall.
Early this year, Sahal was picked as the deputy secretary general in charge of operations after UDA party nominated him and published his name in the list of party officials in December last year.
Kangogo
Vesca Kangogo resigned in February this year to vie for the Uasin Gishu governorship on the UDA ticket.
However, she did not make it to the nominations.
Kangogo was among the CECs who were vetted in November 2017.
She served as the CEC for Finance and the Devolution docket until her resignation.
Before being a CEC, Kangogo was the vice chairperson of the Nairobi County Public Service Board.
She also worked as a Corporate Affairs and marketing Manager and Human Resource and Administration Manager at Lapfund.
Kangongo also worked as the Hunan Resources officer at KBC.
Robow
Robow left Nairobi for a new base in Mandera after winning the Lagsure MCA seat in Mandera West constituency in the 2013 elections.
Before that, he had been a councilor representing Eastleigh North in the now-defunct Nairobi City Council.
After serving his rural ward for 10 years, Hassan wanted to make a comeback to urban politics.
In the August polls, he was UDA's candidate for the Kamukunji parliamentary race but was defeated by Jubilee’s Yussuf Hassan.
Robow was also UDA's candidate for the Nairobi County Assembly Speaker's position but lost to Azimio la Umja One's Kennedy Ng'ondi last month.
