First Lady Rachel Ruto on Friday held a meeting with environmental stakeholders on climate change.
Principal Secretary Chris Kiptoo of the Ministry of Environment and Janet Kabeberi, Senior Gender Advisor and Head of Gender and Social Safeguards at UNEP were in the meeting.
The aim of the meeting was to shape a complimentary agenda in support of the Government’s priorities on climate action and green entrepreneurship.
"Climate change is disrupting national economies and every aspect of our lives. At the frontline of the adverse impact of climate change are women: bearing its direct effect of reduced economic gains from food insecurity and health risks," Rachel said.
She said Green entrepreneurship holds the promise of empowering women economically while reducing human effects on climate change.
"Looking forward to complimenting the government’s Climate Action Agenda."
