ODM leader Raila Odinga will on Tuesday chair party Parliamentary Group meeting to bring order to the Orange house after days of vicious power wars.

Raila has convened the crucial meeting to, among other things, extinguish the fire that is literally burning the outfit.

ODM executive director Oduor Ong’wen was tasked with the mandate of convening the meeting to calm the turmoil triggered by how plum House leadership slots were shared out.

The meeting is also meant to discuss the leadership of the committees and how members are going to be placed in House teams.

ODM national chairman John Mbadi on Sunday told the Star the meeting will take place either on Tuesday or Wednesday.

“The Central Management Committee will be meeting tomorrow. The PG might meet either on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm not sure,” he said.

The CMC meeting, according to the nominated MP, will majorly deal with the approval of the party's accounts.

But the Star has established that the meeting will be held on Tuesday at a Nairobi hotel.

"The meeting is on Tuesday and the invites will be out on Monday," a high-ranking ODM official told the Star.

The PG had initially been scheduled for Friday but was moved because of the induction of members of the National Assembly in Nairobi and senators in Nakuru.

The meeting comes before the official opening of Parliament by President William Ruto. Ruto is set to address a joint sitting of the bicameral Parliament on Thursday, setting the stage for the start of the 13th Parliament.

On Friday, Vihiga Senator Godfrey Osotsi told the Star the region is looking forward for the PG to address some of their dissatisfaction with the line-up, which he said gave Western a raw deal.

According to the first-time senator, the former Western province feels shortchanged as only Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has been allocated the Deputy Whip position in the Senate.

He said they met Raila and explained their concerns and they were assured the meeting will address some of the teething problems around the parliamentary line-up.

“We are not happy with how the positions were distributed. We are waiting to hear how our input has been taken care of in the PG,” Osotsi said on the phone.

Azimio has named Opiyo Wandayi of ODM as its Majority leader in the National Assembly and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui of Wiper as his deputy.

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed of ODM has been named Chief Whip and nominated MP Sabina Chege of Jubilee as Deputy Whip.

In the Senate, Azimio settled on Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo (ODM) as the Minority leader and Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua (Wiper) as the deputy.

Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo (Jubilee) has been picked as the Senate Minority Whip and will be deputised by Sifuna of ODM.

Tuesday's meeting comes on the backdrop of a boiling showdown mainly spearheaded by youthful lawmakers who claim they are being sidelined by old guards.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino and Narok Senator Ledama Olekina have claimed betrayal of young people by top party officials when rewarding positions.
