Young MPs call on government to eradicate drought

They said that youths have the energy and zeal to educate others on matters climate.

The newly elected Young members of parliament have called on relevant agencies of government and other willing partners to join hands in eradicating the current drought ravaging the country.

Speaking at the induction retreat for members of the national assembly in a Nairobi hotel, the MPs said that climate change has been a major challenge in the country.

The members led by Ijara MP Abdi Ali Abdi and Garrisa MP Udgoon Siyaad said that there is a need for the young members of parliament to spread the message to the rural villages, especially the most affected areas.

"We the Young MPs will preach the gospel of climate change from village to village because our people are really suffering from the effects of the current drought," said hon Abdi.

Their sentiments were echoed by Mogotio MP Reuben Kiborek who asked the young MPs to traverse the country and educate the public on the effects of climate change.

They said that youths have the energy and zeal to educate others on matters of climate.

"We will ensure that generations do not suffer the effects of climate change," said Kiborek.
