Azimio MPs threaten to walk out of Koome session in protest

A number of Azimio MPs have threatened to stage a walkout on Chief Justice Martha Koome during today's induction of members of 13th Parliament.

Koome is expected to address the 13th House in the course of the day.

The lawmakers led by Funyula MP Wilberforce Oundo and Nyando MP Jared Okelo said they take offense with the language used by the Chief Justice in dismissing the Azimio petition.

Members of the National Assembly will on Monday begin a week-long induction workshop.

The induction will be held at the Safari Park Hotel.

According to the programme released by the Office of the Clerk, the legislators were expected to arrive at the Safari Park Hotel by Sunday evening.    

On Monday, they will be taken through their roles, the state of the economy, diplomacy and reputation.

On Tuesday, the lawmakers will be taken through Rules and Procedures of the House by a facilitator from the Directorate of Legislative and Procedural Services.

Security matters are also part of the subjects that the members will be taken through as they embark on performing their duties.  

On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, the MPs will be familiarized with the rules and procedures of the House, Budget Process and Public Finance, and Formulation of Laws before the workshop is concluded on Saturday.
