Cotu secretary general Francis Atwoli has said President-elect William Ruto was ahead of the game in the political scene that saw him clinch power.
In a video seen by the Star, Atwoli said Ruto had the political skills and knew his way around and was also a good strategist.
“We thought we had won since many people were clapping for us, but God had his plans, even if we had our own. Ruto's skills in the game gave him the position,” he said.
He urged those who were still in denial of Ruto's win to accept and strive in making Kenya better.
“Ruto is now our father and we have to accept, let us be peaceful because that was God's will,” he said.
Atwoli said he will be attending the inauguration ceremony at Kasarani next week Tuesday.
After the Supreme Court upheld Ruto's win Atwoli took to Twitter to congratulate him.
He said the Cotu board had earlier decided to congratulate whoever Supreme Court would declare the winner.
“During Cotu (K) executive board meeting on August 17, we resolved that immediately after the Supreme Court judgement, we must thank and congratulate the winner,” he said.
“Consequently, we congratulate President-elect William Ruto. We appeal to workers and Kenyans to remain peaceful.”
The Cotu boss is one of the many popular leaders who openly criticised Ruto's bid for the presidency.
He at one time even said that Ruto will not be the president.
