Deputy President-elect Rigathi Gachagua has said Kenya Kwanza's victory marks the beginning of Kenya's economic transformation.

Speaking shortly at President-elect William Ruto's Karen residence shortly after the Supreme Court upheld their election, Rigathi said their victory took the hand of God.

"Today marks the beginning of the economic transformation of the Republic of Kenya. This victory is the hand of God," Gachagua said.

"It has been a long one and half year journey but today, a son of a nobody known to Kenya is now the President of Kenya. We thank the people of Kenya for trusting  him," he added.

The Supreme Court on Monday dismissed the petition filed by the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition leader Raila Odinga and affirmed that Ruto was validly elected President on August 9.

While delivering the unanimous decision of the seven-judge bench, Chief Justice Martha Koome said Raila failed to present a water-tight case before the case to warrant the nullification of the election.

Righathi said Kenya Kwanza's first agenda will be to cushion civil servants from police harassment under the guise of fighting corruption.

Gachagua said said they have had it rough at the hands of state officers.

The DP-elect assured Ruto of maximum support as he embarks on delivering their manifesto to transform Kenya.

"Mine is with a lot of humility to assure you that myself and those under you we shall give you the necessary support so that you can superintend over the transformation of this beautiful country. We shall work day and night," he said.

The former Mathira MP said he was in agreement with the rest of Kenyans that the man they have put into office was up to the task.

He said they may not be as hard working as the President-elect but they will do their best.

"I must admit that though we may not be able to be as hardworking, be as zealous, as passionate as you are, we'll give it our best shot," Gachagua said adding that they will not let down the voters.

Gachagua extended  an olive branch to their opponents and asked them to work together with them noting that they have nothing against them.

"Let by gones be by gones and let all those who are against us join us we build this country together. We have nothing against anybody because we are Kenyans and we are good people and all we want is the economic transformation of our country," he added.
