Cultural dancers, sports and talent groups are hopeful they will be back in business after Governor Benjamin Cheboi's return.
The groups said their sector has been dormant in the last five years.
“Since then, young and senior talent of Baringo haven’t had the opportunity to entertain guests or go out to participate in festivals both in and outside the county,” local musician Pamela Jerotich said on Sunday.
Jerotich said with the return of Cheboi, there is hope for the forgotten gender, sports and cultural groups.
On Thursday, during Cheboi's swearing-in at Kabarnet showground, hundreds of cultural dancers from various communities turned up to entertain guests.
“A new dawn has come as I can now see dancers who have been missing from the entertainment arena for the last five years. Indeed, this is fantastic,” resident Enock Kimetto said.
Governor Cheboi promised to invest in sports, cultural activities and facilities including the stalled resource centres’ and stadiums.
“Just count on me now because my administration is not going to let you down,” he said.
County sports and culture director Wycliffe Maritim said, “We are optimistic Cheboi will open up opportunities for our sports and cultural groups, including reviving Kabarnet ASK show and Kimalel Goat Auction.”
Maritim said the activities would help a lot in preaching peace among the communities, reduce idleness and drug abuse among the youth.
